globalrules-mcp

Communication language (internal note for AI agents working in this repo, e.g. Claude): always communicate with the user in Japanese (常に日本語でコミュニケーションすること). This note does not apply to the public package documentation below, which remains in English for npm/MCP users.

MCP server for GlobalRules — verified country facts (VAT/GST, government-verified 2026–2027 public holidays, tipping, visas, minimum wages… 51 topics × 70 countries) with automatic x402 micropayments (USDC on Base). No signup, no API key: bring your own wallet key and pay $0.005–$0.25 per call.

Using LangChain, CrewAI, or another agent framework instead of Claude Desktop? See AGENT_FRAMEWORKS.md for drop-in code — no marketplace discovery required, your agent calls this tool directly.

Setup (Claude Desktop)

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "globalrules": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "globalrules-mcp"],
      "env": { "EVM_PRIVATE_KEY": "0x<your wallet private key>" }
    }
  }
}

(From source instead: "command": "node", "args": ["<path-to>/GlobalRules/mcp/index.mjs"])

  • EVM_PRIVATE_KEY is your wallet's private key, used only to sign x402 payments (USDC on Base mainnet). Fund it with a few USDC. Use a dedicated low-balance wallet; never your main wallet.
  • Payments are handled automatically per call via the x402 protocol (HTTP 402 → sign → retry). No account is created anywhere.

Try it in 2 minutes with a throwaway $5 wallet

You don't need to touch your main wallet. Fastest path to a first call:

  1. Generate a fresh burner key: node -e "console.log(require('viem/accounts').generatePrivateKey())" (or any wallet app's "create new wallet" flow)
  2. Send ~$5 of USDC on Base to that wallet's address (bridge from any chain via bridge.base.org, or buy directly on Coinbase and withdraw to Base)
  3. Drop the private key into EVM_PRIVATE_KEY above and run a call — at $0.005–$0.02/call, $5 covers hundreds of requests
  4. Throw the key away when done; it never touches anything but this one low-balance wallet

No signup form, no dashboard, no recurring charge — just pay-per-call.

How it works

Built on the official CDP pattern (MCP Server with x402): @x402/axios wraps HTTP calls, detects 402 Payment Required, signs a USDC payment with your key, and retries — transparent to the agent.
